Happy birthday Astrozombie! Your name is made of win. Also wishing a very happy ninth birthday to Nakama. How does it feel to be 60+ in dog years?

Announcements
The Sendspace archive is as complete as it’s going to get without help. If there are any chapters missing or corrupt files, leave a comment or email us. The majority of it came from my hard drive so I know we’re missing files.

In other news, Mediafire suspended our main account last week, even though both myself and DMG had support tickets open to remove the violations from non-DMG titles. What happened was that DMG reported two subfolders and Mediafire, in all of their incompetence, took out the parent directory. Not even their Director of Customer Service, who had been managing my ticket for the last two weeks, will admit or is willing to fix the mistake that they made. Because of that, even with DMG telling Mediafire twice now that they applied the notice to the wrong files, I have very low expectations of Mediafire reinstating our account or removing the violations. For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention to the inquisition, Mediafire is one of the five on Hollywood’s list and they know it.

With that said, we strongly suggest that people do not upload our releases to Mediafire unless it’s from Release #289 (March 17th) onward. This includes any Libre titles that we had in private folders. Those files will eventually get strikes filed against your account.

I am not without good news though. The direct host for releases is back.

Mediafire and Sendspace are in the process of switching roles. The Sendspace account is sorted and now we’re filling in the gaps. If you’re using Firefox, *sendspace-pop.htm is the new link you’ll want to blacklist with BlockSite; the FAQ is updated to reflect this.

Sendspace: this week’s releases

We know the Mediafire folder is set to private, you guys can stop emailing us about it. It might require sacrifing a few goats to get it back up—or the spider that just crawled out from underneath my keyboard… If you can’t use Sendspace for whatever reason, head over to your prefered manga forum or LJ for re-ups.

To everyone offering to upload for us: It’s not that we can’t use MF, we’re choosing not. If MF puts the files back, we’ll go back to using them. If not, we’re going to find another host as the master archive. It’s a time/effort/consolidation thing, not an anti-MF thing.

No birthdays or begging this week, but my webhost is having major issues with their servers–it looks like the instability that’s been going on over the last few weeks has gotten worse. The individual pages will be updated once I can get to them.

3.10.2012Mr Kayashima’s Graceful Life – vol.2 ch.5

Note: The Mediafire links should work again. Sorry for the inconvenience.

2012-3-9 Announcement

I’d like to apologize now to anyone who gets excited because they think I am posting early, which I assume is the reaction people will have since this is the first stand alone post DP has ever made. No, we’re not shutting down. Keep breathing.

I have responded to a decent amount of emails from publishers over the years since DP was created, and I have to say that if the emails Digital Manga Guild send out reflect the professionalism of the organization, they are not a company that I will continue to support.

It’s no secret that I have moral objections to how DMG members are paid and that I also prefer my shelves filled with books, however I recognize what companies like Digital Manga Publishing are trying to do by investing in digital publications and I wholeheartedly support that.

With that in mind, every email I have received from DMG since its creation has been nothing but aggressive and accusing in nature. There are groups out there that have been doing this longer than I have, but as the last remaining founder of a seven year old scanlation group, it’s embarrassing to know that DMG is made up of retired scanlators.

I have responded poorly to being called out by other groups, especially in the earlier years when we were new and struggling to gain a foothold, but I would expect the subtle hostility and overarching bullshit that goes on between yaoi scanlation groups to not carry over into a business.

I also do no appreciate being accused of a publication’s monetary shortcomings in the manner that our group was.

If this is the kind of treatment I am going to continually receive from DMG employees, who are paid based on a percentage of their project’s sales to which I am a customer of that directly effects the dollar amount they receive, I will not reward them by purchasing DMG titles.

The behavior I have experienced first hand with DMG members leads me to believe that DMP does not care about the image their company projects to their customers, or the industry that isn’t a stranger to our fandom’s stomping grounds. And while I applaud DMP for taking a huge risk with this investment, DMG appears to be nothing more than inmates with overblown egos running the asylum. There’s a saying that I believe rings true to how DMP orchestrates the organization and that is “Good idea. Poor execution.”

I will continue to support June Manga and 801 Media, both on this site and with my wallet, but I will no longer be purchasing DMG labeled manga or announce their licenses.

DMG licenses will be removed, at our earliest convenience, without any fanfare. See you all tomorrow.
