We’d like to wish a happy birthday to the first b-day’s of the year, Krys and RockCJ. ^_^

Since Sendspace has a rogue advertiser (I emailed them but it doubt I’ll hear anything back. If they don’t care what their third party adverts do then we’ll just abandon them like we did USAupload. Anyway…), I figured out how to block the javascript from loading in their popup window (Vundo is a JS exploit). While I was at it, I looked up a way to block Megaupload’s popup window too, not that I’ve had any problems with it but what the hell. This doesn’t mean these methods will keep you safe but it’s what I’m using on my PC and since hostlinks are how most of you get our releases, it only makes sense to share.

Sendspace: Install the BlockSite add-on (mozilla.org) and blacklist this link: hxxp://www.sendspace.com/defaults/sendspace-pop.htm (replace xx with tt). The popup will still show up when you click on a download link but the code (specifically the javascript) is missing from the popup window. I don’t know exactly what causes the popup window to show (sometimes it doesn’t) but clearing my cookies and cache was a sure way to get it to popup again when I was testing things.

Megaupload: Using greasemonkey (mozilla.org), install this script (userscripts.org) to block the popup that loads when you click on a download link (the popup happens when you click on the download link after waiting 45 seconds).

Just a reminder that installing Adblock Plus (mozilla.org) and using the EasyList filter is always a good idea.
