Release #114 – Taiyou, Roman Gousha & MomoiroHow is everyone today? Hopefully in a good mood and ready to party, since we have more birthdays to celebrate. Grab your party hats and get ready to sing Happy Birthday to 2 of our awesome translators, Unare Haineko and Reptilian. As always, we’re serving up some delicious bishies and wishing them both wonderful days filled with lots of fun and goodies.
Soooo…how many of you are just lounging around your house (or wherever) completely bored and wishing there was something fun and exciting to do? Especially if it means putting your amazing translating (such as Japanese), proofreading (Japanese and English) or editing skills to use. If this is the case with you, then how about giving scanlating a try? It’s definitely fun and exciting and you’ll meet the most wonderful people. Not to mention the added bonus of being among the first people to get your hands on some of the hottest, sexiest bishies around. Project Announcements
Everyone knows that Masara Minase is one of our all time favorite mangakas, and we jump at any chance to scanlate her works. Well, after careful consideration and a lot of discussion amongst the staff, we’ve come to the decision to pick up and continue the following works:
Gokujou no Koibito – starting with c09
Toiki Yori mo Yasashii – starting with c02
Unbalanced Heat – last remaining chapter
This was definitely not an overnight decision, and lots of time was spent discussing it and going back and forth. As scanlators, we know and appreciate how hard it is to juggle real life with scanlating, and there’s constantly things happening and staff coming and going, which causes delays. We have a huge amount of admiration and appreciation for Hochuuami’s work and are very grateful to them. However, we’re fangirls first and foremost just like all of you, and have been waiting extremely patiently for the next chapter of these projects (a year for TYmY!), we’ve decided that we just can’t wait any longer. Especially with GnK. We need to know what happens!
Before anyone jumps down our throats for this, please keep in mind that there hasn’t been a release/sign of life from Hochuuami in almost 6 months, none of the above projects have had a release in almost a year, and their website has been down for at least 2 weeks. So to us, it appears they’ve disbanded. If you have any questions, comments or concerns regarding our decision, please email us. If you have none, then please look forward to a rash of Minase spam from us in the near future!
Website News
If you haven’t noitce, the DP site looks a little bit different this week. We’re in the middle of switching over from Textpattern to WordPress for DPv4 but it was more of a hassle than we expected and Scry doesn’t want to risk losing everything the day before we release the new layout. ^^;; So for the next few weeks we’ll be using Mushiblue as a temporary layout while Scry recodes DPv4 to work with WordPress (don’t worry, we have a second install of WP so the site won’t be down while she tests it XD). So here’s the good (and bad) stuff…
Gravatars: I didn’t know about this until yesterday but you can sign up with them and upload an icon. Any blog, like WordPress, that uses gravatars will show your icon when you leave a comment. So it knows it’s you, you use same email address you signed up with gravatar in the comments. I don’t think you need to use the same name though O_o?
Projects: For the temporary layout, projects are listed alphabetically on the sidebar (we’re not manually coding them for the temp layout–too much work) so they’re not listed by current/complete/dropped. Doujinshi are still color coded by status.
HTML in comments: Since we’re not using textpattern anymore, you don’t have to deal with it’s stupidity. Comments automatically convert line breaks and you can use real HTML now. The tags you can use are links (a href), bold/strong, italic/em, underline, strike, and small.
RSS Feeds: the old RSS url IS NOT WORKING. Please see the links at the bottom of the sidebar for the new feed URLs. I will be emailing LJ support to change the LJ syndicate to the correct one.

Thanks, I was wondering how to install XAMPP. I kept seeing it on theme tutorials but I thought I had to install mysql manually. XAMPP does it for me, everything’s good XD Hmm, makes me wonder if this program will let me see the php code when I preview it in HTML-kit or Dreamweaver. Would make my life a lot easier *rubs chin*

OH MY GOD!!!!! Zoey, Scry, I SCREAMED..and SCREAMED…and SCREAMED,you’re picking up MM’s releases!! YES YES YES!!!! Actually, I’m waiting more for TYMY rather than GnK. I donno why…. maybe the TYMY involves more mature people. The GnK seme seems kinda childish. But I like the Uke in GnK…nice….with glasses. She draws spectacled-men very sexily!!!
I hope you ladies will pick up more left-over projects….be it from MM or otherwise. It’s nice to finally see an ending…ya know?? Of course…no one would blame the original scanlators. As you said, everyone has a personal life of their own, and it’s hard to juggle sometimes. But it would be a shame if hocuuami indeed disbanded. It’s been around quite some time right?? That’s exactly why we’re not taking requests anymore. We can’t categorize what we like so trying to explain to someone why we don’t accept a manga they’re excited about is too painful for us and them. We like manga with bara, ukes bordering shota, beautiful bishies, clean line art, sketchy line art, nice screentones, black and white shading, PWP, overly complex stories, fluff that makes your teeth rot, angst that makes you rip your hair out–we like all of it, but you either like a manga enough to spend the effort to work on it or you don’t. We can’t scanlate everything.
I’m so glad that DP’s doing those works by Minase Masara. I’ve been reading the projects so i’m extremely excited that they will be continued especially Toiki Yori mo Yasashii!

I think a group shoudn’t take too many projects in one time, just do it one after another, so it won’t happen, that soooooo many project won’t be finished when a group abandoned. And hochhuami really left many projects behind.

Ah, I meant like when I code my websites (non WP), I like to use php includes to call the navigation bar (only one file to edit if I need to add a link) but if I preview the site in my HTML program, it doesn’t show up because I don’t have php installed locally. I’m hoping I can use XAMPP to solve that problem. XD I did some googling and I think it will ^__^

I’m really happy to hear you were picking up Minase’s works because I absolutely love her too and was waiting ever so impatiently for them but I just saw that Hochuuami released ch 9 of Gokujou no Koibito although I can’t access their website to see their current status on projects.

I know there’s already been some alert about this, but volume 2 chapt. 9 for Gokujou no Kobito has recently been updated, and Baka-Manga Updates is stating that it was released by Hochuuami. Their site is still down, but there’s a download link that leads to a working Mediafire file. I’m still not sure about about Hochuuami’s status is right now, but it might be a good idea to hold off on the picking up of their series until a bit later on, especially since they’ve suddenly shot out a release.
Not to put you guys off or anything, I was eager as everyone else to catch the ending of all those series! But it might avoid a lot of trouble to step down temporarily, though I’m sure action is already being taken.
yeah…i’m downloading Gokujou no Kobito right now. Maybe you guys should contact Hochuuami once again.

I personally prefer you guys picking up the Masara projects. Hochuuami used to release pretty regularly, but the quality definitely isn’t as good as your projects. Also, I’m kinda weirded out that some time after you made this announcement did they then decide to release more GnK….

ungrateful much? being that none of us have been privy to any e-mails between DP and hochuuami, as Scryren pointed out, it’s a little rude to assume hochuuami released a chapter just because DP made their announcement. and given that you don’t contribute to the actual production of the releases from ANY group, your comment is ungrateful and rude to ALL scanlation groups and shows why so many of us are getting fed up with scanlating. disappearing staff, ungrateful leechers, and rudeness are the 3 major reasons groups are folding. perhaps you should consider that BEFORE you make obnoxious comments in the future

i’m very happy to hear that you’re going to try picking up where hochuuami left off. i read above that other people noticed the ch.9 release yesterday- perhaps hochuuami is simply finishing up whatever work was near completion at the time of disbanding. they may have only had a few more pages of this chapter to work on and were finally able to post it.
anyways, i hope you can get in contact with them and work something out.

I read that you are not accepting suggest of mangas at the moment, (pitiful ;_;) so i thinks i useless i write to you again.
However i would like you consider in a future this manga:
New york, New York by Ragawa Marimo.
It was licensed to italian, german and french and it was a pity there are not one traslated in english.

Thanks so much for the updates I love Taiyou no Kikoushi by Maruya Kae. The artwork is so pretty. I will have to check the other two stories out.
I know as a scanlation group you all try hard not to take any one else projects. Whether Hochuuami is still around is still unknown. I was glad to see that where going to continue with Gokujo no Koibito, Toiki Yori mo Yasashii and unbalanced heat. I appreciate all your efforts in trying to find out about these projects and wanting to work on them and finish the stories.
Again thanks for the new release’s I really enjoy all of your stories, and appreciate everything you do to share these projects with us. Also I am really happy that you updated your website to let us know what is happening with the changes to it and when to expect them.
